A dark walk

The dark does strange things to you. To start with there is the strange itching sensation that rests in between your shoulders, the constant disquiet that something or someone is following you. The furtive noises made by animals as you walk by only heighten this feeling. You want to turn round to look but you know that “it” whatever “it” is will still be behind you. The torch on the phone lights a small circle in front, casting...

Your World, My World

Your World. My World. Do you struggle to get how you see the world into your images? I do not mean turn up take a stunning image and walk away, the one in a thousand shot. Are you getting the movement you want in the frame, be it none at all, intended or unintended? Basically, is the shutter speed right? Too slow and then the wind catches the subject, and it moves. Or, worse still the camera moves, and you get this inadvertent blur....

Floods and the breeze

The first thing you feel is the breeze. This is not the gentle breeze of spring or summer but the colder, harsher breeze of midwinter. This does not gently stir the first shoots of trees and flowers but hits you square in the face. Bitter, stinging, and unforgiving. Flood It carries with it, rain! More rain onto an already saturated ground. Actually, that’s not strictly true. The ground is underwater as I speak. The flood plains are doing...
